Bio: Aixa is Assistant Director, Learning Services at George Mason University. Prior to Mason, Aixa worked as Senior Program Manager at American Geophysical Union (nonprofit) and was selected as the Mellon/ACLS Public Fellow at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. She has worked at the NSF, NOAA, USEPA, and NIH in the US federal government. She also has done scientific and educational consulting, and volunteer/service in the United States and Puerto Rico. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and psychology from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from American University.
