Name: Aixa Alemán-Díaz


Bio: Aixa is AGU’s (nonprofit) Program Manager, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Aixa continues her research with two funded new projects in Puerto Rico. Prior to AGU, Aixa was the Mellon/ACLS Public Fellow at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. She has worked at the NSF, NOAA, USEPA, and NIH in the US federal government. She also has done scientific and educational consulting, and volunteer/service in the United States and Puerto Rico. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and psychology from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from American University.
