Tereza Emilova is a UX researcher with a Master’s degree in Anthropology from NOVA University Lisbon. She has worked as an emergency interpreter, an experience that gave her a close look at how different systems operate, where they fall short, and how important it is to design services that truly meet human needs. She is now building a path toward a career in service design while interning with ACRN, where she helps create accessible tools for students and instructors and will begin a research project in the fall.

How can anthropology shape your career, even when your job title is not “Anthropologist”?

I have never had “Anthropologist” as a job title, but anthropology has been part of everything I have done, even before I could name it. I am still at the beginning of my career, but my journey so far has been full of discoveries. It has been a kind of domino effect, where one curiosity led to the next.
